C4i Inc., recently announced wins of over $2.7 million in contracts for the supply of its Public Safety application in Vietnam, California, and Illinois, along with additions to other pre-existing Australian contracts.

These new contracts include an interoperability system for the City of Riverside, California and a dispatch system for the Village of River Grove, Illinois, just outside Chicago. Riverside's current system will be enhanced by capabilities that the new C4i system offers, such as radio patching and the ability to access multiple remote radio sites. The existing infrastructure in the Village of River Grove is simply due for replacement, as it is over 15 years old; the new system will include SwitchplusIP consoles, redundant servers and radio interface units connected to the various base stations.

"In addition, we won a major police dispatch system in Vietnam, so we have a national project there that will actually link multiple dispatch centers together and provide access to radios over quite a wide area... it is very much an interoperable configuration," said Brad Kay, president of C4i.

The referenced contracts all use the latest C4i SwitchplusIP based technology, which has now been delivered to customers in America, Australia, Europe, the Middle East and Asia. C4i expects to complete all projects this financial year, a rapid deployment time that reflects the maturity of the SwitchPlusIP product.

"We provide a scalable, Radio Over IP dispatch solution, which not only integrates telephone, but also allows radio endpoints to be located at remote sites," said Kay. "We're continually evolving the product and the new features with 3-4 scheduled releases a year in terms of new capabilities and embedding things like an active directory for single log-on and integrated phone books."

The new contracts are for public safety systems applicable to Police and Fire Services. For all market sectors C4i will design, manufacture, commission and support turnkey communications systems.   In parallel, C4i received $1.3 million of new orders from existing customers in Australia. These new contracts reflect the confidence in the user community of C4i's standard-setting technology.
