A suburban Pennsylvania police officer may be paralyzed, after he was shot by home invaders Tuesday, who had posed as FBI agents to gain entry to a house and demanded narcotics and cash.

Upon arriving at the home, Clairton Police Officer James Kuzak Jr. and fellow officers heard one of the two gunmen inside say, "We're going to have to shoot our way out," reports the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.

Police have charged Myles Jordan Hutchinson, 21, with aggravated assault, assaulting a law enforcement officer, robbery and other crimes in connection with the shooting.

Officer Kuzak, who has been an officer for 15 years, may be paralyzed as a result of the shooting. He is now in critical condition at UPMC Mercy, Uptown.
