Former Va. Chief Was Briefed On Recruit's Death, Acting Chief Says

Acting Norfolk, Va., Police Chief Sharon Chamberlin spoke out about the death of recruit John Kohn, saying former Chief Bruce Marquis was fully briefed about the incident, reports WTKR-TV.com.

Marquis, who retired in late February, initially didn't mention the head blows recieved by Kohn, and later said, "I think someone on my staff … should have advised me more thoroughly than I was."

Videos surfaced showing Kohn doing ground fighting training 11 minutes after a collision with another recruit. The video showed Kohn on his back, taking blows to the head from an instructor who was wearing boxing gloves.
