California Authorities Arrest Mall Arson Suspect

Alexander Piggee has been booked into the Placer County Jail on suspicion of arson, arson under conditions likely to cause great bodily injury and causing damages and losses in excess of $6.5 million, burglary, and making criminal threats.

A 23-year-old man with no permanent address is suspected of setting fire to a regional shopping center in Northern California and and barricading himself in the center, according to the Roseville (Calif.) Police Department.

Alexander Piggee has been booked into the Placer County Jail on suspicion of arson (willfully and maliciously setting a fire), arson under conditions likely to cause great bodily injury and causing damages and losses in excess of $6.5 million, burglary (entering a building with the intent to commit a felony), and making criminal threats.

Piggee is being held without bail. His arraignment is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Oct. 25.
