Bangor, Maine, officials are now dealing with the fallout from an election official's decision to deny a local officer a ballot when he declined to hand over his service weapon, reports the Bangor Daily News.

During a press conference, Bangor Chief Ron Gastia said officers aren't required to surrender their firearms to vote. And the election warden who turned the officer away has been dismissed.
