Baker Ballistics Rifle Shield Completes Testing

The Mobile Rifle Armor Protective Shield (MRAPS) has successfully completed destructive ballistics testing and will soon be available for purchase. It's ideally suited for tactical police use during room entry and clearing operations and active shooter response.

Baker Ballistics announced an upcoming addition to its ballistic shield product line: the Mobile Rifle Armor Protective Shield (MRAPS). MRAPS has successfully completed destructive ballistics testing and will soon be available for purchase. It's ideally suited for tactical police use during room entry and clearing operations and active shooter response.

MRAPS is formed with rigid ultra lightweight polyethylene composite and is rated NIJ Threat Level III. It provides excellent protection against many common lever, pump, and bolt-action centerfire rifle calibers. It's also rated for multiple hits from common 7.62x39mm (AK-47 or SKS) rounds, 5.56mm ball, and 7.62mm NATO ball.

The MRAPS allows for excellent mobility and the ability to aim and fire a long gun accurately from a natural shooting position. The shield weighs 16.9 pounds and has 4.2 square feet of ballistic rifle protection to cover the head, torso, groin, and femoral arteries of the user while engaging a rifle-equipped adversary.

MRAPS also uses Baker Ballistics' bungee lanyard to better provide comfort while carrying the shield for long periods of time.
