On Tuesday Aaron Baka Lopez, 37, was sentenced to 115 years in prison for shooting and wounding Officer Jennifer Moore of the Phoenix Police Department in 2008.

According to police, Lopez shot Moore in the chest during a traffic stop. Although the bullet lodged in Moore's vest, it first severed her right ring finger, which she was holding in front of her.

Lopez then fled the scene to an apartment complex where he held a father and son at gunpoint in a barricade situation. The hostages escaped unharmed and after several hours Lopez surrendered to police.

Moore had been with Phoenix PD for about a year at the time of the incident.
