The man suspected of fatally shooting Taylor (Mich.) Police Officer Matthew Edwards may have shot the officer with a gun stolen from another police department.

The man suspected of fatally shooting Taylor (Mich.) Police Officer Matthew Edwards may have shot the officer with a gun stolen from another police department, WXYZ reports.

Tyress Mathews, 36, is suspected of attempting to break into an apartment on Friday. After responding to a call of a disturbance, Edwards stopped him, prompting Mathews to open fire on the officer. Edwards' partner returned fire, hitting Mathews at least once, and then chased him down.
