A 26-year veteran Philadelphia PD officer who stole $825 from a cafe on his way to a suspected robbery call has been involuntarily committed to a mental institution, the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Officer Kenneth Crockett becomes the eleventh officer arrested since March 2009.

The officer's family committed him, after he learned he would face first-degree misdemeanor counts of theft and receiving stolen property.
