N.H. Burglers Robbed Houses Using Facebook Updates

The Nashua (N.H.) Police Department's burglary unit recovered between $100,000 and $200,000 in stolen goods and arrested three suspects who identified their victims using social networking sites.

Three tech-savvy burglers used Facebook updates to clean out the homes of victims who announced they would be on vacation or away from their homes, reports WMUR.com.

The Nashua (N.H.) Police Department's burglary unit recovered between $100,000 and $200,000 in stolen electronics, cash, ammunition and other items and arrested three suspects in the burglary ring.

The suspects — Victor Rodriguez, Mario Rojas and Leonardo Barroso — identified their victims using Facebook and other social networking sites, according to Capt. Rob Dickerson.

In late August, Facebook launched Facebook Places, a feature of the social networking site that allows users to inform their friends of their current location. The feature was widely viewed as an answer to the popular Foursquare that allows users to post updates when they "check in" at a restaurant or other venue.
