A 19-year-old man will face felony assault charges and undergo a psychiatric evaluation after he tried to assault a Battleboro (Vt.) police officer with a knife, reports SentinelSource.com.

Brendan Houston of Montpelier has been arraigned on felony charges of attempted aggravated assault with a weapon on a police officer and attempted aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Houston allegedly threatened Officer Amy Hamilton, who Tasered him when he refused to drop the weapon. When he continued to advance toward her, the officer shot Houston in the left hand.

Officer John Frechette then used a Taser, which sent Houston to the ground. Officers then took him into custody.
