Referring to himself as a member of "proud terrorists," a defiant Faisal Shahzad was sentenced to life in prison for attempting to detonate a car bomb in Times Square.
The Pakistani-born Shahzad was unrepentant during sentencing, the New York Daily News reports. Shahzad, before the sentence was delivered in Manhattan Federal Court on Tuesday, warned Americans to "brace yourself" for future attacks.
Shahzad said by attacking the U.S., Muslims are only defending themselves.
Shahzad is believed to have purchased the 1993 Nissan Pathfinder in Connecticut via Craigslist that was found loaded with propane, gasoline, and fireworks in Times Square on May 1.
