Driver In Arizona Officer's Shooting Gets Life

Daimen Irizarry, 31, claimed he acted in fear for his life when he peeled out in a supermarket parking lot after Gilbert PD's Lt. Eric Shuhandler was shot in the face and left for dead.

A driver who led police on a 50-mile chase, after his co-defendent allegedly shot and killed a Gilbert (Ariz.) Police officer was sentenced to serve more than 100 years in prison for the crime, reports the Arizona Republic.

Daimen Irizarry, 31, claimed he acted in fear for his life when he peeled out in a supermarket parking lot after Gilbert PD's Lt. Eric Shuhandler was shot in the face and left for dead.

Police believe that the shooter was Christopher Redondo, 36, who could face the death penalty when he goes to trial next year.
