Deputy Inspector Steven Mauriello, the former commanding officer of the 81st Precinct in Bedford-Stuyvesant, is among those charged.

The NYPD has brought internal charges against Brooklyn precinct commander, two sergeants and two officers involving allegations that they manipulated crime reports.

Deputy Inspector Steven Mauriello, the former commanding officer of the 81st Precinct in Bedford-Stuyvesant, is among those charged, reports the New York Daily News.

The allegations against the two sergeants and the two officers involve a single robbery complaint. The two sergeants are charged with failing to ensure that the two officers they instructed to file the report, the New York Times reports.

The charges stem from Officer Adrian Schoolcraft's report to Internal Affairs in 2008 and 2009 about suspicions of crime report manipulation. Schoolcraft also made audio recordings of conversations with fellow officers.
