A Miami (Okla.) police officer responding to a domestic disturbance call was hit by shotgun fire even though two officers repeatedly warned the man to drop the weapon, The Oklahoman reports.

Michael Brashers, a five-year officer, was hit in the left arm and stomach as he and partner Richard Cummings entered the apartment of Kevin Brownfield.

The officers returned fire, and Brownfield remains in the hospital in serious condition.
