The BART police department has pulled the TASERs from its officers citing a sergeant's use of the less-lethal device on a 13-year-old Richmond boy on a bicycle.

The BART police department has pulled the TASERs from its officers citing a sergeant's use of the less-lethal device on a 13-year-old Richmond boy on a bicycle, the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

The sergeant, who is still on active duty but has been pulled from street patrol, engaged the TASER while driving his patrol car, according to the report.

The transit police agency's interim chief also said the agency is already in the process of retraining officers for the proper use of the devices in light of a federal court ruling in December that permitted a man to sue a Coronado, Calif., police officer who used a TASER on him.
