Two of the four finalists to lead the Bay Area Rapid Transit's police department are women.

Two of the four finalists to lead the Bay Area Rapid Transit's police department are women, the San Jose Mercury News reports.

The agency is expected to hire the new chief by the end of the month. Among the new chief's initial responsibilities will be evaluating the use of TASERs by officers and monitoring the trial of former Officer Johannes Mehserle, who is being charged with murder in the death of Oscar Grant III at the Fruitvale station in Oakland early on Jan. 1, 2009.
