Philly Officer Says Captain Ordered Hair-Color Change

Officer Renee Norman is claiming the captain said her hair was purple, an "unnatural color" that violates the department's Directive 78-D that bans purple, blue, and green hair colors. Norman is claiming her hair was red.

A female Philadelphia police officer has filed a complaint with the state's human relations commission that her captain had ordered her to change her hair color because it didn't conform to department policy, the Inquirer reports.

Officer Renee Norman is claiming the captain said her hair was purple, an "unnatural color" that violates the department's Directive 78-D that bans purple, blue, and green hair colors. Norman is claiming her hair was red.

In September, an officer in the department was pulled from street patrol for his cornrow hairstyle.
