Facing 70 layoffs from its ranks, the San Jose (Calif.) Police Department hosted a job fair on Wednesday "complete with glossy brochures promising excellent salaries and benefits, free ballpoint pens and fresh cold-cut sandwiches, but it was not to entice young men and women to come join this city's finest," the Mercury News reports.
The event drew about 200 officers and representatives of surrounding law enforcement agencies looking to cherry-pick officers.
