Wisconsin Deputy Returns To Duty After Cleared In Child Abuse Charge

A Rock County (Wisc.) Sheriff's deputy has returned to active duty, after a being cleared of a felony charge of physical abuse of his daughter, GazetteXtra.com reports.

Neil Bennett, 27, was charged June 15, after his 4-year-old daughter told Milton police that he slapped her in the face.

Bennett said he had spanked his daughter for misbehaving, but did not slap her in the face. Child protective services inspected the girl and could not substantiate the injuries she claimed in the criminal complaint.
