Maryland Implements 'Blue Alert' for Crimes Against LE

The notification system will be called Blue Alert and will be similar to the Amber Alert system to identify missing children and Silver Alert to find missing seniors.

Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley has announced he's speeding up implementation of a system that would notify the public when there has been an assault on an officer to help law enforcement find the suspect, the Baltimore Sun reports.

The notification system will be called Blue Alert and will be similar to the Amber Alert system to identify missing children and Silver Alert to find missing seniors.

The move was, in part, precipitated by the shooting of Maryland State Trooper Wesley Brown.
