Jury Gives Philadelphia Cop Killer Death Sentence

A week after convicting 23-year-old John Lewis for the killing of Philadelphia police officer Chuck Cassidy, the same jury handed the cop killer a death sentence.

A week after convicting 23-year-old John Lewis for the killing of Philadelphia police officer Chuck Cassidy, the same jury handed the cop killer a death sentence.

Lewis shot Cassidy on Oct. 31, 2007, after the officer walked into a doughnut shop robbery in progress, WFMZ-TV reports.

Lewis, whose mother is a corrections officer, had entered a guilty plea to a general charge of murder and a series of armed robberies.
