RUAG Ammotec Establishes U.S. Ammo Distributor

RUAG Ammotec USA, which will be based in Tampa, Fla., will distribute small-caliber ammunition and frangible rounds produced by Precision Ammunition.

RUAG Ammotec GmbH of Furth, Germany, has established a U.S. subsidiary to distribute its small-caliber ammunition, as well as frangible rounds produced by Precision Ammunition, the company has announced.

"RUAG Ammotec and Precision Ammunition are a perfect fit and will drive forward RUAG Ammotec's growth strategy worldwide by opening up new markets and strengthening product groups," according to Cyril Kubelka, RUAG's chief executive. "Additionally, it establishes a U.S. presence for the RUAG family of business to actively bid on U.S. government contracts."

A RUAG press release said the partnership was established partly to meet "the increasing demand for non-toxic frangible ammunition."

RUAG Ammotec is one of Europe's largest manufacturers of small-caliber ammunition for government agencies, national defense, and the hunting and sports markets. Precision Ammunition is a specialist in non-toxic, lead-free frangible ammunition.

RUAG Ammotec currently has approximately 1,600 employees worldwide at production sites in Germany, Switzerland, Hungary and Sweden, and operates sales companies in Austria, the United Kingdom, Belgium and France.

Precision Ammunition produces the Copper-Matrix NTF (Non-Toxic Frangible) bullet that is used in training environments by law enforcement, military and security personnel.
