Indiana FOP Lodge Helps Santa Deliver Gifts to Needy Kids

Members of Calumet City, Ind.'s Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 1 took their turn playing Santa's helpers Saturday. For the 23rd consecutive year, police officers gave the reindeer a break and took part in the Santa Run by pulling the jolly old elf's' sleigh from house to house bringing Christmas cheer to families in need.

Members of Calumet City, Ind.'s Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 1 took their turn playing Santa's helpers Saturday.

For the 23rd consecutive year, police officers gave the reindeer a break and took part in the Santa Run by pulling the jolly old elf's' sleigh from house to house bringing Christmas cheer to families in need.

"It is a privilege to be able to help needy families at this time of year, and reminds us all of the true meaning of Christmas," Lodge 1 President Mitch Growe said.

The FOP assisted 15 families this year, including 45 children, with food baskets and Christmas gifts.
