Dallas Police Chief David Kunkle has terminated Officer Bryan Crews for sending nude pictures of himself via text message, failing to provide violators with copies of citations and other actions, the department announced.

Crews, 30, was fired following a department investigation that invloved officer Crews' wife providing evidence from his cell phone, the Dallas Morning News reports.

The officer allegedly sent the nude pictures to a 17-year-old north Dallas high school student. Failing to give the citations to violators resulted in arrest warrants being issued. Crews also failed to return ID cards to people he questioned, according to an agency release.

Crews actions "had a tendency to adversely affect, lower, or destroy public respect and confidence in the department," according to the department.

Crews has said he will appeal the firing.
