A stray bullet struck a North Las Vegas police officer's badge during an exchange of gunfire with an armed man Saturday evening, the Las Vegas Sun reports.

The 31-year-old officer, whose name was not immediately released, suffered only minor injuries.

While on patrol, the officer heard shots from an apartment complex. When he approached, he noticed a suspicious person who he tried to stop. The exchange of gunfire followed, then the suspect fled. Police are searching for the man.
