The Los Angeles Police Department will make the case that it no longer requires federal oversight, during a June 15 hearing in front of U.S. District Court Judge Gary Feess, the Los Angeles Times reports.

The Los Angeles Police Department will make the case that it no longer requires federal oversight, during a June 15 hearing in front of U.S. District Court Judge Gary Feess, the Los Angeles Times reports.

For the past eight years, Feess has overseen court-ordered reforms that have been put in place since the Rampart corruption scandal.

The department now audits its internal workings heavily and relies on a $50-million computer system to track officer conduct and flag potential abuses. The department also has been using in-car video cameras.
