Officer Richard Crittenden of the North St. Paul Police Department, was shot and killed on Monday morning, while responding to a domestic disturbance call at an apartment that officers had visited a day earlier, the Star Tribune reports.

Crittenden, who had called for back-up from a nearby Maplewood police officer, received a fatal gunshot wound during a struggle with suspect Devon Dockery, who was also killed. He's the first officer killed in the line of duty from the department.
