The highest-ranking women in the Seattle Police Department, an assistant chief, has retired, leaving another vacancy in the command staff, SeattlePI.com reports.

Assistant Chief Linda Pierce retired on Friday, after 28 years in the department. Pierce oversaw the Special Operations Bureau, which includes operations and planning, the arson and bomb squad, the Harbor Patrol, and criminal intelligence section.
