Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Get High Marks in New Poll

Most Charlotteans are happy with the way Charlotte-Mecklenburg police are doing their job, according to a new poll from Elon University released Tuesday. Nearly 85 percent of respondents said they were satisfied or very satisfied with the police department's performance overall, compared to only 11 percent who were dissatisfied or very dissatisfied.

CMPD reports that violent and property crime are both down about 21 percent citywide so far this year, compared to the same time period last year.
