Man Arrested In RV After 8-Hour Standoff

The wife of the suspect told police their two children (ages 9 and 12) may be with the man. Police were not able to convince the man to surrender, despite phone calls, public-address messages and flash-bang grenades.

After an 8-hour standoff that appeared to San Diego County sheriff's deputies to be a hostage situation, SWAT officers used tear gas to eject a 42-year-old Ramona man from his RV, the Union-Tribune reports.

The wife of the suspect told police their two children (ages 9 and 12) may be with the man. Police were not able to convince the man to surrender, despite phone calls, public-address messages and flash-bang grenades.

The children were found unharmed, after the man was taken into custody.
