At 8:36 p.m., Metro Division officers tried to stop a white van with expired tags at 36th and North Tryon streets, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Chief Rodney Monroe said.

At 8:36 p.m., Metro Division officers tried to stop a white van with expired tags at 36th and North Tryon streets, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Chief Rodney Monroe said.

The van didn't pull over, so the officers followed it north for about six minutes as it weaved in and out of the parking lots of shopping centers.
