TREXPO, the premier tactical response and law enforcement event, is launching a new initiative combining the knowledge and expertise of TREXPO West and Campus Safety Magazine, the only publication exclusively serving the public safety and security needs of hospitals, schools, and universities, at TREXPO West 2007 in Long Beach, March 19-22.

The result is an intensive training program offering practical risk-reduction measures, strategies to prevent or reduce violence on campus, and ways of handling many of the violent situations that have been plaguing schools and universities, such as shootings and hostage situations.

Two days of panel sessions will specifically address how campus police and traditional law enforcement can collaborate to deal with gangs, as well as prevent, detect, and respond to Columbine-type incidents. In addition to the panels, TREXPO West will feature two highly reputable keynote speakers who will also focus on gangs and campus security.

On Monday, March 19, Sgt. Richard Valdemar, one of the nation’s leading authorities on gangs and career criminals, will present a study of the Los Angeles-based Sureño gang and its migration across the nation. The class will also focus on the “Super Gangs” of Florence 13, 18th Street, and Mara Salvatrucha 13 (MS-13).

The keynote presentation on Tuesday, March 20 by Lt. Col. Dave Grossman, one of the world’s leading experts on the causes of violent crime and author of the acclaimed book “Stop Teaching Our Kids to Kill,” will discuss methods that can help prevent school violence and protect students.

TREXPO West and Campus Safety Magazine are inviting campus police chiefs and public safety directors, as well as municipal, county, state, and federal law enforcement officers to attend these seminars on Monday, March 19, and Tuesday, March 20. They are also invited to visit the Exhibit Hall and attend the Wednesday keynote session and shooting day.
