A Harlem man accused of selling drugs tore open his groin Thursday trying to escape NYPD officers while trying to climb a chain-link fence.

Witnesses told the New York Daily News that the officers made the injury worse when they pulled the impaled man off of the fence. Police officials denied the charge.

The suspect was in grave condition. He was rushed into emergency surgery and was in stable condition last night.

Narcotics officers say they spotted the man selling drugs about 3 p.m. Thursday and chased him four blocks.

Charges are pending against the suspect, whose name was not released.
