Four North Carolina state legislators have agreed to sponsor legislation to provide full scholarships to the children of law enforcement officers, firefighters, and EMS workers killed in the line of duty.

Four North Carolina state legislators have agreed to sponsor legislation to provide full scholarships to the children of law enforcement officers, firefighters, and EMS workers killed in the line of duty.

The four Republican lawmakers told the Charlotte Observer that they chose Thanksgiving week for the announcement because the legislation was drafted to thank the state's "fallen heroes."

If the bill becomes law, children of North Carolina officers killed in the line of duty would receive full scholarships at the state's public universities or community as long as they remain in good academic standing.
