The International Law Enforcement Educators and Trainers Association (ILEETA) plans to hold a number of events to test law enforcement skills in conjunction with the 2008 ILEETA Conference, April 1-5 in Chicago.

The International Iron Cop Competition, the ILEETA Cup, and the International Police Driving Competition will take place March 31. Cost will be $15 per event, which includes an event T-shirt. The events are open to any sworn officer. Event participants do not need to attend the conference to compete. Valuable prizes will be awarded to the top competitors in each event.

Iron Cop measures an officer's ability to perform job-related physical skills of endurance, flexibility, speed, power, agility, and technical skills such as handcuffing and tactical shooting. The ILEETA Cup is the only international police shooting competition that uses both "live" fire and electronic simulators. The International Police Driving Competition is an opportunity for any sworn officer to display police driving skills behind the wheel of an L-3 driving simulator.

Two fun events are also scheduled during the ILEETA conference. The World Police Donut Eating Championship will take place April 2, and the Flatfoot Five 5K Fun Run/Walk will take place on April 5. All money raised through these events will be evenly split between the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund and the ILEETA Scholarship Fund.
