A new $10 note with a new design and updated security features is scheduled to enter circulation in early 2006.

A new $10 note with a new design and updated security features is scheduled to enter circulation in early 2006. It will be the third denomination to undergo a makeover in the new currency series that is designed to foil counterfeiters with high-tech methods that are difficult to reproduce.

The new $10 notes will be safer, smarter, and more secure. Improved security features, such as subtle background colors, make counterfeiting more difficult and make it easier for people to make sure their money is genuine currency.

Because counterfeiters are turning increasingly to digital methods, the government is staying ahead of counterfeiters by updating the currency every seven to 10 years. The $100 bill will be redesigned next.
