New Mexico Officer Cleared of Sexual Assault by Body Camera

Arrested for drunk driving, an Albuquerque woman tried to flip the script on an Albuquerque Police officer, accusing him of sexual assault. Cops say when 23-year-old Deanna Griego was placed under arrest for DWI she tried to hatch a false sexual assault accusation against the cop who arrested her. More Here.

Awesome Job to the Police Department for handling the situation very well. Thank God for the Body Cams, they come in handy

Another win for the good guys.

Leonard @ 10/20/2014 5:58 PM

Griego MUST be charged for her failed attempt in accusing the arresting officer of sexual touching. Such manipulations MUST be nipped in the bud, especially when the evidence is so clear against her. Letting this ride amounts to "open season" on using sexual charges. She is a manipulator as evidenced by ingratiation references to wanting to be a LEO, then references to "speech impediment" and finally, once in the restroom seeking further avenues on inappropriate touching. It is time to teach her a lesson.

Albuquerque Police Chief, Risk Manager and City/County Attorneys, make a note! If you don't prosecute her on such a clearly documented case, it WILL come back to haunt you in the future. Intoxication doesn't excuse this crime, and it is a crime.
Imagine what that very professional, and clearly innocent Officer's life would be like if he weren't outfitted with the body camera. You spent the money wisely on cameras, now use this incident to discourage future frivolous claims. Your cops, your local media, your citizens all know what she was trying to pull. You owe it to all of these constituents to do the right thing and prosecute this woman who was willing to ruin a man's entire life and career to avoid the consequences of a misdemeanor DWI. What a piece of walking garbage she is. Any prosecution will be viewed as "She had it coming. They oughta throw the book at her." It's a slam-dunk.
DO THE RIGHT THING!!! Nothing is easier than backing your cops when they are right!!! DO IT!!!

Capt. Crunch @ 10/20/2014 6:16 PM

What a little witch, she should be sued civilly.

Robert Hunawill @ 10/20/2014 8:20 PM

As if we don't have enough folks throwing gas on flames....I sincerely hope this dept will file on her for assaulting the officers character...stay strong ladies and gentlemen...I'm afraid it is going to get a lot worse before it gets better...

kevCopAz @ 10/20/2014 8:58 PM

I vote with the rest: charge her at the least for false reporting, then the officer MUST SUE HER civilly.

kevCopAz @ 10/20/2014 8:59 PM

If the department does not push for prosecution then officer should stop using the camera since they would be a one way tool used ONLY against them, never for them and thats not right.

Tschako @ 10/20/2014 9:00 PM

tomconlin could not have said it better. PROSECUTE!!!! Don't let this slip by or it will spread like wildfire to other officers without cameras.

steve @ 10/21/2014 7:38 AM

Amen. If the courts don't charge her with something the FOP or police union needs to step in on this. First they complain that law enforcement needs to be wearing body cams and then when they do and prove innocence the flippin' court doesn't treat the perp. like they would the officer....double standards!!! It will be interesting to see the outcome on this. PoliceMag. please keep us informed on proceedings. If LE doesn't stand up soon and insist on justice against these issues we're all going to be behind the 8 ball! Scumbag defense attorneys will make sure of it!!

Calling this young drunken girl a whore does not help anything. Lets tak the high road here and look at the whole situation. She is young and not only drunk but apparently not too smart. So in her state of mind she makes up this story about a good cop just doing his job. Charge her for the OWI and charge her for filing a false police report, and see to it that she pays for the bad choice with extra fines or jail time. Make sure it is publicized, if that is possible in our liberal media, and get the word out. Hopefully she will learn a valuable lesson and maybe others will too.

Art @ 10/21/2014 9:01 AM

The officer needs to pursue a private civil suit against her too for defamation, both libel and slander.

Chief Goltry @ 10/21/2014 9:54 AM

she needs charged, or everyone else will jump on the band wagon

Deputy Dan @ 10/21/2014 10:58 AM

ARREST HER! If the situation was reversed the Police Officer would undoubtedly be charged. Arrest Her!

Matthew @ 10/21/2014 7:15 PM

Prosecute her!!!! Coppers life could have been ruined!!!

Matthew @ 10/21/2014 7:18 PM

Prosecute her!!!! Poor coppers life could have been ruined!!!! An example needs to be set

Paul @ 10/22/2014 8:20 AM

An additional charge of Interference With Offical Acts or False Reports (both Iowa offenses) needs to be filed on her. This Officer did an outstanding job. Body worn cameras are excellent tools. A tool that just saved this Officer's marriage and career.

Boo @ 10/30/2014 6:08 AM

False accusations? Prosecute her?

D. Jacobson @ 10/30/2014 6:47 AM

It's nauseating that this woman isn't being prosecuted for making a false accusation. The District Attorney should be FIRED!

Alec Rawls @ 10/30/2014 10:57 AM

The punishment for false accusations of sexual assault, where they can be determined, should be exactly the same as for the sexual assault that is claimed. The punishment for rape, for instance, is intended to match in a rough way the crime of rape, so trying to falsely inflict this punishment on someone is also roughly a match for rape, and should be punished the same.

False accusation of sexual assault is a very serious crime, the prevalence of which is undoubtedly due in significant measure to the fact that it is almost never punished. Imagine what the rape rates would be if rape went systematically unpunished.

krisnlc @ 11/26/2014 10:46 AM

She should be charged with "malicious prosecution". She is a little witch. feel free to substitute the 'w" with a "b". glad to see it is on tv so now all her little friends know who and what she is.

Skippy @ 1/28/2015 8:26 AM

I can tell you from first hand experience that here in the wonderful liberal state of New Jersey, that our County Prosecutors Office would not have allowed us to pursue any charges. It is a joke anymore to do this job!
