Colorado Officers Suspended for Leaking Video of Man's Traffic Stop Tirade

When Aurora (CO) Police pulled over a man for driving 65 miles per hour in a 50 mph zone, they probably didn't know that the driver was the son of Denver Mayor Michael Hancock. But in an expletive-filled roadside tirade, 22-year-old Jordan Hancock made them fully aware of the relationship. The entire interaction was captured on the body-worn camera. Now, Timmons and Gurley-Lutkin have each received a one-day suspension for the video being leaked.

Good job officers, I would be glad to contribute money for the one day of pay you lost. Well worth it to expose this kind of behavior.

Jordan Hancock is a ignorant spoiled and disrespectful little punk that rides around with his father’s title on his collar. His father Michael Hancock is the Major that him. This type of behavior is not accepted from anyone and shouldn’t be tolerated from him either. The Officer was doing his job and Jordan’s disrespectful behavior impeded the Officer from doing his job. His license should be suspended until he is sent and completes a remedial type of anger management and sensitivity type training. Maybe some community service teaching him to respect authority. Jordan Hancock is NOT above the law just because his dad is the Major. Suspending the Officer for posting his video is ridiculous. Thank God he took a video because that helped him to expose Jordan’s disrespect towards the Officers to the world.

Officer gets suspended because the driver was a butt? Oh that's right. His dad is a big town mayor. BS. Hope your Chief chokes on his eggs. Good job officer.

Aside from him leaking the video I think that this stop should be distributed and shown to police stations throughout America. In my opinion this officer had shown the utmost professionalism as well as restraint in the midst of a verbal assault. I believe the officer has emulated the type of respect and fairness that the black communities have been seeking in all officers we must come in contact with. I personally take my hat off to that officer in how this particular stop was handed. The cop was respectful the entire time and in my opinion this driver was 100% out of line.

Young Mr. Hancock better thank whatever higher power he believes in that he lives in this day and age, as there was a time in the not-all-that-distant past in this country, or at least some parts of it, that running your pie-hole to an officer that way would have led to the need for some extensive dental work...this punk is a real piece of work.

Anyone using someone else's title of authority to get an immunity card should know that they are abusing the public trust given for that title. However, since that title is not theirs to wield, they could, say, earn it for themselves instead of stealing it like a common criminal. If the mayor did something wrong, he should answer to the appropriate law. How could a child of a Public servant decide they were above any law, just because the feel entitled to someone else's hard work. This is the mind of a criminal. Doesn't that child realize if wants respect and trust he has to earn it? No? Then that child is visible a disgrace in the public eye. The mayor is not accountable for his son's actions, but his son is accountable. I couldn't have faith nor trust in this arrogant, idiot having no respect for law, common decency, the public, or sworn officers to protect us from idiots like this jerk. This guy is only sorry because he got caught. He won't do any soul searching. He acts criminal.

Walt, If department policies state that body and dash cam videos are the property of the department and can only be released with the approval of the chief, then some type of discipline must follow for release in violation of policy. It's not a matter of who his dad is. The officer did a good job and the tape would probably be released under a public record request but there is a right way to do it and the officer releasing to embarrass the mayor isn't it.
