Seriously, how are the police supposed to do their job in this overly PC environment? How about if the woman followed the lawful direction and provided her ID, or if she didn’t resist a lawful arrest, she wouldn’t have gotten tased. Statistics further show that the use of a taser is less likely to cause harm to an offender of the officer as opposed to physically engaging the combatant. This chief is a joke! The chief should be fired for being a moron.

I saw nothing wrong there. The sergeant appeared cool, calm and collected. The BFA was confrontational and resisting. I would not have Tased her. I would have thumped her with my night stick, though. Big time. The Chief must be emasculated (sic) by political correctness. Sad, sad state of affairs. No wonder nobody wants to be a cop these days....

Seriously PW ! In case you didn't hear having to provide identification officially ended with the surrender of Germany to the Allied powers !

While using the taser may have been a little much it is hard to second guess if you are not there. The officer had two major concerns going on. The incident and a new officer to watch over. No doubt the woman was upset if she had been involved in a domestic but the rookie should have explained she only need her DL number for her arrest report. What I find more the issue of firing the Sgt. He had 22 years on so he must have been doing something right all this time. Cops do have bad days and it normally comes from admin pressure and demands. Even if the Chief feels it is a bad call wouldn’t an agency that large have a discipline board? Firing is excessive. It would be pretty hard if he were demoted along with a pay decrease. We are starving for experienced police officers in this country so why not tune of the old guys and not just throw them out with the trash. Doesn’t seem to have had much thought from the boss on this one.

In my day, I would have ordered the woman to be tased as well.
However in today's insane PC climate the only option left to officers is "disengage" This will never solve the problem, but will make those who never have to solve the problem FEEL good.
I understand LAPD Officers call their new patrol tactic: Smile, Drive and Wave. Smile at everyone; keeping driving ignoring all their training and experience by not stopping a crook; and when they are being waved down, wave back telling the citizen in distress to call 9-1-1, thereby giving them sanctioned reason for stopping to help.
God has bless me with retirement

fire the PC Chief of Police who apparently cannot see these officers acting properly. How are they supposed to handle a resisting female. Hit her with a baton, pepper spray? Taser is non lethal and appropriate in this situation. This SGT will get his job back if he wants to work for this COP. Wrongful termination. PC reasons because the female was black.

Retired LEO @ 12/26/2017 1:00 PM

Amazing, but I guess if your black you don't need to follow the rules. You know go to a DV no evidence of a fight leave let them deal with their DV problems. Hey your a chief that doesn't support your officers, and your just there to toss others under the buss, you should not be a chief and you surely weren't a cop that worked. You we're one of those PC asshats that just wanted to be promoted. I say Ft. Worth PD demand that chief be fired or forced to resign.
