The officer appears to be holding his Glock sideways, gangbanger style. What's with that? Is this some new technique I haven't heard of?

Watching this I have one question. Who's more "gangster", the bad guy or the cop! What's with that shooting grip?

Lyjg Adams, I think the technique is called, "the go F yourself technique". Maybe you should be a little more worried about the officer's well being and not how he was holding his gun at the time.

OK, so the officer's techniques regarding the deployment of his sidearm appear to be unorthodox. That is best left to his department's firearms instructor to determine after a debrief. The bottom line is that rather the guys was drunk or not, he had a gun in his waste band or pocket. The cousin stated that the suspects drunken condition should be taken into account. I would be more interested in taking in to account the gun. Same old story again, "do what the cop tells you to do, and you won't get shot." When are people going to learn this. More importantly, why has this all important issue not been taught to our young people ? Somewhere we have failed to teach these important survival skills to the last 2 generations.

To those who have never been in a real shooting, as long as you point the weapon at the correct target and hit, the hand grip worked. Granted it appear a bit unorthodox and can cause the weapon to jam and does little for "sight picture" but lets face it, thats a "holy shit" moment and I glad the officer won. Now the "family still has questions" and "he ant that type". Well the video answers any reasonable question and proves he sure "is" that type of person. Suspect is lucky to be able to look in a mirror no matter what injures look back at him. He could be dead. Besides, its my guess the tac payer will be paying for any reconstitute surgery wither through OBAMA care subsidies or plain "county Hospital" coverage. You all know Im right don't you?

Mike, and others, I think the point of the "gangster grip" style criticism is more officer safety than you think. The officer was placed in a life or death situation yet I believe his poor shooting stance and approach led to his inability to eliminate the threat. He was a foot away. This could have easily led to another officer funeral. As a firearms instructor I'd slap the sh*t out of this kid.

For those that don't know, when you deploy your firearm with a single hand grip you do hold the weapon sideways for the recoil.
