After 29 years of service, and the daily barrage of negative law enforcement videos, mostly used against us, I think it is time to hang up the gun belt and move somewhere away from people. I am amazed in such a short time, (only a few years), we went from heroes to villains. The numerous positive contributions we have made to society are over shadowed by a relatively low (very low comparatively) amount of negative things. I am tired of the media slogan, if it bleeds it leads. Somewhere on page 10 you'll read about the cop who donated money to a homeless mother, or saved a driver from a burning car, or performed CPR on a child. But sure as sh!t, front page, body cam shooting of a nice young man, who tried to turn his life around. Society gets what it asks for. And no Percy, Marcus, Leonard we did not start this. Michael Brown et al did.

I agree, I left Phx PD after 32+ years, am still in a related LEO job with another agency but work is different. I saw only the "take down" portion of this incident. Sure appears that the girl was resisting (felony there?) and as 99% of these incidents are, she controlled what happened to her by non compliance. You have to remember that these "kids" are not always small and weak, some are "grown size" and can harm an officer every bit as any adult. Also remember that this officer is alone in a school full of perhaps a few thousand other students who can be a possible concern to his safety and getting the job done quickly and safely. This arm chair quarterbacking has gone on too long, I think we should remove ALL SROs and let the school handle the fights and the assaults etc. Watch how many teachers get assaulted and how order falls apart even more then now. Think about it, if the cop wasn't there what could and would have happened?. Lets leave and when violence happens, take a report
