I was a police officer for 20 years, what I saw on that video was INSANE ! You don't shoot an unarmed person when he's running away from you especially when you have back up with you....are those officers afraid to fight???

Steve, if you being an officer for 20 years should have taught you one thing...there are two sides to every story. You have only watched a video and placed judgment upon a situation you know very little about. It is unfair to say from a video those officers did not feel threatened. How do you know he did not threaten with a gun? I am not saying they are/are not justified. I am only saying let the process work.

Really !!! This is the reason why all of law enforcement are having problems. No pepper spray, taser, batons, bean bags, or how about the cruiser ?

BT @ 2/13/2015 4:07 PM

It could be a matter of "rocks" or "stones". Large rocks could be deadly, but I didn't see anything
large being thrown when they were near the squad cars. And no one appeared to get hit with anything and going down hurt. And I didn't even see him in a throwing motion at all when he was on the sidewalk next to the building. But like many cases, the video may not show everything. Based strictly on the video, it does not look good. Steve's point is perhaps an alternative. Taser or maybe tackling?

AZBIGDOG @ 2/14/2015 7:09 AM

Sorry, but if you look at the video he turned and confronted the officers. If you are bringing rocks to a gunfight then you have lost already. If you don't believe a rock can seriously injure you or kill you try checking out the USBP officers who have been struck with rocks. I am sorry someone lost a life but glad it was not the officer/s.

If you look closely at the video the subject runs with his arms up but as the officers catch up he drops and goes for his waist and then extends towards the officers. Split seconds, it is unfortunate he did not comply with their verbal commands to stop he just kept going. He had committed a felonious assault on a police officer with that giant rock. I am sorry he died but it was his choice.

If he wasn't an unsocialized anchor baby from illegal aliens and instead raised properly by parents that went through the immigration system and classes becoming encultured responsible parents; he wouldn't have been standing in the middle of the street throwing rocks on a day when he should have been in school to begin with.

krisnlc @ 2/17/2015 10:15 AM

What is seen on the video is not enough for lethal action. Perhaps we will learn that he had a gun and then the action is substantiated...but they were within 10 or 15 feet of the guy and he looked to be throwing something not reaching for a gun. If rocks were his only weapons....although dangerous, are they really lethal to the police officer....? ON this video it looks like overzealous officers reacting based probably on their training. Are we creating overly paranoid officers each these cases.

Beasley @ 2/28/2015 11:45 AM

The actions of the suspect do not have to be determined to potentially lethal to use deadly force. Our law in Georgia says ," may cause death OR great bodily harm.". I believe that rock would have caused great bodily harm if it were to strike a person in the face or head.
That being said, I would hav edone y best not to shoot that guy - which they may have done. Not enough video to judge the officers on whether they exhausted all other avenues.
