I don't know the whole story on this one. The student must have had some sort of training on this since he was at the security desk and had pepper spray. He recognized his opportunity to take the guy down and accomplished his goal. However, as you can see on the video he was really shook up by this.

Sorry to hear about the 19 year old, may he rest in peace and I hope the other victims get well soon. The student Jon Mels, is a hero and I feel he and the students that helped subdue the armed suspect should receive a Citizens Commendation, from the police department. For them this is something that does not happen every day.
