To stay in service for that long means he was invaluable to the City of New York and I applaud him for his service. The truck driver was not paying attention to the officer nor to traffic which is the most likely cause of the accident. The officer was there strictly for that truck to do its job so both the driver and the Officer should have been synchronized to each others actions but the driver failed to watch for the Officer. It was an accident but a needless one. We have one less hero in the world tonight. Condolences to his family and to the NYPD.
