Sovereign citizen or not, the officer acted in good faith stopping the speeding motorist from further potiential harm to the public by all means.
Regardless who the driver isunless after the fact then they are required to have this case handled by the proper authorities being contacted.

The so called sovereign citzen still have to comply with all safe driving in the community, such abuse could results other legal actions with the authorities having jurisdiction over soveriegn citizen.

It really does not exempt such dangerous behavior with the traffic law with a soveriegn citizen.

Officer acted in good faith to stopped the motorist from further potiental harm.

These people are an extremely serious threat to law enforcement personnel and should not be taken lightly.

Capt David-Ret LA County @ 5/9/2013 4:33 PM

Wait, "sovereign citizen"? Sorry, thought it was slovenly citizen. Why is it that all these off the wall nuts are ugly as sin? In the movies it's always the hot chick who's psycho but here in the real world their like these one. Good work guys, but as Capt. D said: Waaay tooo loonng. Like sittin' through another PC class. Blues, Stay Safe.

The officers involved did a great job! They maintained their level of professionalism throughout the entire event, even though this "sovereign citizen" continued to be belligerent, trying to bait them into doing something wrong.

These people are a serious threat to LEO's and some have been known to shoot and kill officers during a routine traffic stop. They lie about their identity, make false tags and paperwork for their car. They are not to be taken lightly.

Eugene, I may be misinterpreting your comments and if I am I apologize in advance. You do understand what a "sovereign citizen" is right? This is not an ambassador or someone with diplomatic immunity. A "sovereign citizen" is someone who believes they are not bound by the laws of the "state" be that state or federal laws. They usually don't recognize any authority beyond the county sheriff and sometimes not even them. They are nut jobs who say they don't need a drivers license to drive or a registration for their car. They will claim that cops have no authority to stop them for essentially anything and will throw a bunch of legalese at the cops when they are stopped. None of which actually means jack. They are nut cases but as other have already said they can be very dangerous.

I point this out because when you say something like "Regardless who the driver is unless after the fact then they are required to have this case handled by the proper authorities being contacted." it makes it sound like you think they have some valid legal claim as a "sovereign citizen". They do not.

Sovereign IDIOT! And when she was arrested, she wanted to be treated nicely? Are you kidding?

Lots of video, but ALL a good training exercise for those of us sitting in our chairs. VERY nice job.

Acting Chief S.Thomas @ 5/25/2013 12:18 AM

From my experence as a Village Pease Officer based off of my encounters with Sovereign citizens on trafic stopps, a Sovereign citizens belife system is based of the the constitution garenteing the right of free Citizens the right to travel. They also belive that they they don't need a drivers license to drive or a registration for their car because they belive it is just a tax, because the legal definition of a license is, purchased permision from the government to do somthing that would otherwise be ilegal. Their argument is that in a free country why do you kneed to purchase permision to travel in a vehicle that you own, when the constution garentys you that right alredy. Any way iregardles of wheather they are right or not it is somthing to think about, and not just dismis as BS. However do keep in mind most of these individuals are law abiding genearaly speaking ,do not want to hurt anyone, and will respect you, there is a crazy one in every bunch, so be carefull. This is just for your information, not trying to step on any ones toes, and thies guys did a good job, and she was definatly in the wrong. Be safe out there.

Sgt. Mike @ 5/29/2013 7:21 PM

100% Professional. Good job guys and gals.
