that kid needs his a** beat to learn some respect.

Joseph @ 12/13/2012 3:13 PM

The officer in this video should have been reprimanded but not fired. He didn't beat the crap out of this little punk nor did he use a taser or pepper spray.

This is exactly what is wrong with the youth of America!!! When your talking to a peace officer, his/her reactions are going to be based off of your attitude and this little turd had no respect for these guys in uniform. If this is what the UK allows to have happen to their police officers than the UK deserves what happens on its campus (drugs, alcohol abuse, DUI's, rapes, etc.).

This little pipsqueak deserves to be kicked off the campus without reimbursement and banned from any further higher learning facilities. UK needs to make an example out of this piss poor excuse of a student and not the officer!!!

The chief and the campus is sending the wrong example to its students by allowing the termination of this officer and not at least punishing the student as well!!!

Dante @ 12/13/2012 4:53 PM

Future leader of America there! And we wonder why other countries hate us!

Kevin @ 12/13/2012 4:53 PM

The officer broke the rules and violated the "pipsqueak's" rights. Plain and simple. Yeah the kid is a dipshit, disrespecting punk - but he was doing that to provoke the officer. Officer should have kept his cool and known what he had rights to do. Just like the yo yos who walk around with rifles to prove that they can, and film the officer encounter hoping that the officer doesn't know the laws... you get some officers who handle it correctly and others who don't.

Not firing the officer could create huge liabilities for future arrests. If this officer is known to violate the rights of the people he serves, his credibility will always be questioned in court.

Steve S @ 12/13/2012 4:58 PM

Reprimand probably, firing, no way. This was a clear set up by the little jackass to provoke a response as evidenced by the tape. He has a bright future as a defense attorney someday. Too bad the cop bit on the bait, but certainly understandable that he did.
I'm sure Mr Smartypants will let his alligator mouth overload his tadpole a** again and get it handed to him. He learned the wrong lesson that night.

George @ 12/13/2012 5:07 PM

There is something seriously wrong with the University of kentucky Administration and their rules. The office may be in need of some disclipine but the kid needs to be kicked out of the University. Would it would be alright if the kid walked up to the president of Uk and told him 'fuck you'. Is that the intregrity this Univesity promotes. If so, then you don't have to wonder why this country is going straight to Hell.

I would recomend this officer get himself a good attorney and sue the President, University Staff, the Uk Chief of Police and the student. Student who demostrated a certain amount of inticement and a wanting desire to induce entrapment. You can demostrate the students desire to (verbally) get the officer in his room, What hppened when the student stepping knowing out of sight on the other side of the door? There is a point in time when this kind of citizen activity needs to be brought into question. Might as well be now.

The Chief Of Police is WRONG. This does not warrant termination. The people behind the shield deserve to be respected, and in this case by their superiors as well as the alleged victim.

I'm 30 years law enforcment retired (retiring in 2004). In the 70's attitudes like this were adjusted on the spot. And it was very effective while provided positive results for present and future communication. It worked. Now they got these news ways called being 'politically correct'. Funny thing, there just isn't any respect.

Next time a mule wants to kick you in the ass I would like to see you go up there and kiss that mule and beg him not to. Please call me, I want to watch this.

Andrew @ 12/13/2012 5:20 PM

This kid is garbage. Can't wait to see where he will be in ten years.

Mike @ 12/13/2012 5:49 PM

This is what happens to University Officers. Disipline is all political, job security sucks. The chiefs of these Departments are just incompetent political hacks.

Eric @ 12/13/2012 6:08 PM

This kid has some serious issues!

Capt. Crunch @ 12/13/2012 6:49 PM

This video for sure should be shown at the police academy on what not to do.

Larry @ 12/13/2012 7:06 PM

I am disgusted at this video and at the leadership of the UK Police for allowing this officer to be fired. This officer exhibited great restraint at this youths lack of respect and yes, the officer did lose his composure, but haven't we all at one time or another??? Unless this officer had a history of this, he should've been reprimanded, and at the most a suspension.

I am especially disheartened by Kevin's remark, but hey, its a free country. I really like the plank-eyed saints that have great 20/20 (hindsight) vision and judge others who have probably done the same thing this officer did, if not worse. We all have made mistakes and the one element you cannot take out of an officer is the human element. You try to do a job righteously and sometimes you get tripped up by the world that surrounds you. It doesn't make you a bad cop, it shows that you are human. Give the officer a little slack, God knows the bad guys get more than we do.

Karl @ 12/13/2012 7:27 PM

This Officer did his job. This PUNK needed to have his ass kicked and the officer showed great restraint not doing it. It is obvious he wanted to incite the officers into doing something so he could vidoetape it. I think I want to be a judge next so I will be able to reinstate the Officer and put the direlicts of society away for good.

Ben @ 12/13/2012 8:13 PM

This kid, unbelievable

Lieutenant @ 12/13/2012 8:18 PM here is a copy of the code of conduct, both side were in the wrong.. The officers did not need to be fired, adminstrative leave would be ok and for the punk, you know he questions everything and everyone because he "knows it all"... I am sure PD has contacted him before.

alo @ 12/14/2012 1:59 AM

This is exactly what law enforcement has come to today. It's not about doing police work anymore it's about being political. You now have to really think about what you're going to do and how you are going to do it without being either fired or put on leave pending the outcome of your internal investigation. The brass will always take the Citizens side. In this case they made the officer look like a criminal. Being fired i think was a little too harsh; however maybe these officers had something else in thier jackets that made the brass fire them. I agree 100 percent with Larry we are officers and we are also human and we also make mistakes. the officer definitely needs to get an attorney. Hope the officer gets his job back.....good luck

S.S @ 12/14/2012 6:36 AM

What do you expect from a guy with a douchebag name like "Graham"? This guy is definately that!!! Officer shoulda played by the rules, but not fired. This lil bastard hopefully gets his one day, and Im sure he will. These lil douchebags usually do.

David @ 12/14/2012 6:45 AM

In law enforcement we have a term for this guy - asshole.

Kevin Bradford @ 12/14/2012 7:10 AM

I am suprised that that UK dosen't have a clause in their dorm agreement with students that University Administration/Police have the right to enter dwellings on their property if the parties occupying that dwelling are involved in criminal activity or causing a disturbance or disruption to the UK community or other neighboring dwellings units as this child appears to have been doing. An understanding and signed agreement upfront would eliminate a lot of the issue here. This is disgusting that this child's behavior would go unpunished. They also apparently need a student clause in their admissions contracts that anything posted in a public forum such as on youtube by a UK student that directly places the integrity of the student body of UK in a negative manner and has not been approved by the UK administration could be grounds for expulsion from the University. These types of agreements are common in work environments and our learning institutions should be no different. Personally I think from my 23 years of experience that this incident by itself did not call for a termination of the Officer. Most cops ought to know to let this one go, because he will screw up again. Make the report and put the odds in your favor for the next encounter.

Joseph @ 12/14/2012 8:43 AM

The kid is a turd. He knows he's a turd. His whole family are probably turds too. If the officer challenges the termination, he wil;l win and if he is smart, he will get a large settlement from the university. NOW... that being said, the officer perhaps should have taken staff from Residence Life (or whatever UK calls it) to the dorm with them to okay the search. Once that was okayed and the student refused entry, the UK cops should have arrested him for obstruction (or whatever the state charge for interfering with law enforcement officers in the legal preformance of their duties). End result, that little turd goes to jail.

He will go far in life. Upon graduation, I see him as a manager of McDonalds or Burger King. Good luck chump. BTW, if you were my kid, I'd pull you out of school and send you to a Tech school to learn Air Conditioner repair. I have put three of my children through college (including one in Medical School and one in Law School)

felix @ 12/14/2012 7:41 PM

I heard plenty of reasons there to arrest for dis-con. It would have been over a long time ago....

Javier @ 12/15/2012 1:38 PM

In my experience, I have met assholes like this and they were adults and holding a "respectable" job. They asked me, "why are your catching burglars or bank robbers? Why are you harassing me?"
What I've found, is that these say idiots (I want to use a harsher word) are the same ones that are the ones that cry out for your help, when they need police protection/help!!!

Random @ 12/15/2012 3:25 PM

This could make a great training video for dealing with verbal antagonistic suspects. The suspect gloated them into entering, but they fell for it.

TR Black @ 12/15/2012 5:32 PM

This is an example of what Campus Police Officers have to deal with on an all to frequent basis. There is a very thin line that they must walk. I'm now retired from a university Police Dept. I have seen and experienced MANY situations as this. I agree that most if not all administrators would not and will not support their officers in cases against officers. It is very unfortunate for the officers involved and I am more that sure that they have NO recourse to regain their jobs. 98% of the students are good kids- the rest; well you have just seen them.

ANTHONY @ 12/17/2012 9:17 PM

I am a officer with 23 yrs service, where i am from obscene language is against the law,why was he not arested? The officer showed plenty restraint,he did not behave badly...

slaw @ 12/31/2012 5:28 PM

Read your contract with housing: you don't have rights. They don't need a warrant, punk. Smart ass thinks he knows it all.

loantaka @ 1/1/2013 7:33 AM

I think the officer should be commended for keeping his cool. This punk -and that's generous - needs to be gone from our university. Get this low-life out of there and reinstate this officer.

Kevin @ 1/4/2013 8:55 AM

It makes sense and these guys overstepped the line. They fell for the trap. I have no problem with this and find their actions unprofessional. They give police a bad name.

Jon Doe @ 1/9/2013 8:56 PM

I have always taken pride in knowing multiple obscure local statutes and ordinances in order to help resolve issues such as this. The moment this kids voice could have been heard uttering foul language in the public hallway, the officers could have snatched him up for Disorderly Conduct and the issue would have been over before it even started. Just because the kid watched Law and Order and gained movie knowledge of what a search warrant is, does not mean that he knows all of the laws and i saw several charges that he could have been arrested for if only the officer did not get caught up in the moment. The officer lost sight of the forrest because he was focused on one giant splinter in his posterior. It's unfortunate that society supports the actions of a foul mouthed idiot over the actions of an officer that was ultimately trying to keep the safety of the other students by removing the alcohol on the campus. I would bet that if the kid willingly and apologetically admitted to the wrong doing the officers would have done the least amount of damage to the kids status with the university. But instead, the kid knowingly and willingly provoked the altercation and reveled in the fact that he does not have to take any responsibility for his actions. It's shameful and this kid is a disgusting human.

radu @ 2/4/2013 8:41 AM

stupid student

Todd H. @ 2/20/2013 8:36 AM

When I worked as a campus cop in Kentucky, I had to take this type of conduct from students, professors or anyone the University deemed important and yes, everyone was more important than me. I am sorry to say, this is not an uncommon occurence for campus police. Parents pay the University good money to babysit their problem child and Lord knows you better not do anything to their little Johnny or the University's cash cows. Thank God I was able to escape campus policing and become a State Trooper. Let me explain the difference between the two if you don't know. Campus Cops deal with people like that pre-law clown everyday. Troopers don't normally encounter this type of behavior because the pre-law student is afraid that the Trooper would grab him by his chicken neck and choke his ass out. Campus Cops....I feel your pain, I was you....leave while you can.....even if you have to make less money..... UK did that cop a favor by firing him.....
