Wow. I understand the use of the baton but I do think it was a bit over done. That said, it is pretty damn clear that this guy was resisting in an aggressive manner. Glad the Officers were unhurt. Of course, he was only trying to get in the squad and the Officers were trying to stop him, right?

Wow, it is really great the witness was there to refute the video! This looks like every resisting case I ever had (not very many), where the poor, innocent victim was jumped by multiple officers for no apparent reason. He was just trying to get to a telephone to call his mommy. Too bad the punk was never taught to comply with authority, for that would have obviated the need to kick his sorry butt!

Clearly this was resisting arrest, the use of the baton I totally disagreed with and was a little extreme... swinging like a bat for instance and in an area where at least for our department was trained not to strike(face skull etc). As you can see it took 4 officers to take him down and finally get some cuffs of him so they pretty much did what needed to be done. Maybe the kid will learn next time if hes being placed under arrest he should comply with commands even if he thinks he is too cool to do so.

That kid definitely will have a few uncomfortable ribs. It was an interesting tactic to pull his arms up as the assist used his baton.

Clearly the suspect would not submit to the lawful demand of the officer and was violently resisting. In 1982 I was told by my first partner “listen kid forget all that shi& you learned in the academy there are three thing you need to know to do this job

1). Request compliance

2). Demand compliance

3). Force compliance

And you know what’s great, I am still teaching this same axiom to new hires today!
