Pathetic. All those gutless sheep would scream bloody murder if the PD ceased answering calls in that armpit of the city. Let the wolves have 'em. They don't deserve anything but scorn.

I truly hope there is a statute in place to prosecute those who witnessed the Police Officer get shot and intentionally elected NOT to come to his assistance! NO absolutely NOT,no prudent human being with any compassion for life can consciously NOT get involved. They are heartless! It's ashame how some people do not step up and do the right thing for another human being! Too bad too sad for them. They brought it upon themselves REALLY! God Bless you my brother. I pray for your family and a quick recovery.

You really didn't expect most people in this complex to help the police do you??? It would be like someone coming to the rescue of LAPD in Nickerson Gardens at Central and 103st. Most likely they would come up and assault the cop or steal everything they can from him..

Where's the moral outrage here? I guess he wasn't wearing a hoody with a bag of skittles in his pocket huh? I'm waiting for Sharpton, Jackson, Bakewell, and the other race baiters to speak out on this kind of violence. Oh, what, no, nothing? And this was a Black cop. What if it was the same Black cop in an all White community. This story and video would have been in heavy rotation in both the liberal media and newspapers. I bet the President would say this cop looked like his younger cousin...complete nonsense....

This is a sad day. I hope he recovers mentally and physically from this. I also understand the lack of response from bystanders. Sense Wikileaks relieved the video of a US military helicopter shooting a family attempting to get a shot man to the hospital. It has caused would be helpers to question getting involved. Also, I doubt that any are trained in even basic first aid. Many in first response could not fathom standing by when a good person needs us. We have to remember the saying “fight, flight, or tharn”; Even good people can go into tharn if they are not born for the latter two. It just seems that the locals are not eloquent enough or self assured enough to tell the reporter. Or the report edited that part out, as reporters tend to do.

And this is a surprise....why? A very different culture, very different morals.

Just recall the guy getting shot at the fried chicken take-out and people stepping over him to get their orders.

what are the sheep supposed to do, get shot too?

I am shocked at the communitys response to this incident. I am just a shocked at the statements made by the female who was interviewed and wanted to protect her identity. Where is the value of the sanctity of human life? These are the same people who claim that the police are unresponsive to their needs, yet they are not even willing to assist an officer in his time of need. Community involvement is the only way to deter and prevent crime. It is obvious that this community will continue to be plagued with crime problems because those who live there have established that they will tolerate crime and not become involved. I hope Saturday Night Love continues to do skits about East St. Louis!

This is disgusting. The sheep could grow a pair and help a fellow human. The gunman ran. Why would he shoot at them after he got away? People are cowards but are the first ones to talk bad about the police. The woman trying to explain why they didn't help is spewing nothing but a cop out. He was obviously lying on the ground rolling around with a gunshot wound to the face. I could even MAYBE understand if the wound was blended into a dark uniform. HE WAS SHOT IN THE FACE!! They obviously weren't too scared if they ran outside. They couldn't take a few more steps to help what was obviously a police officer? I call BS! That whole herd of people with that mentality needs put out to pasture.

It amazes me how witnesses can ignore serious incidents and take no action in efforts to help. In this case, an officer was shot in the face while attempting to make an arrest. Those who watched this event take place did not offer help of any kind to the wounded man. This is a classic case of the social psychology phenomenon known as bystander non intervention. Studies show in order for a witness to take action, they must see the event, deem it serious, and feel personal obligation to offer aid. Another reason bystanders opt out of helping is due to responsibility diffusion which occurs when individuals assume someone else nearby will help out and in turn, nobody helps out. We see cases like the one above all too often and it is truly unfortunate. Our society needs to begin taking action and offering help to those in need or else unfortunate stories like the one above will continue to occur.

Welfare, drugs, and sex is all they care about. If the Officer stayed down they'd stole all his goodies. Evil is coming your way too.
