I'm sorry, but this is hilarious! I'm tired of having to put up with them, and I'm sure a lot of people wish they'd go occupy somehwere very hot and sulphuric.

Tschako @ 11/8/2011 7:36 PM

Clearly, he had it coming.

Hey "r", get over it. Also get a job! LTL hurts a little bit, like getting hit with a racket ball during a game and your opponent fires a kill shot. You have a red spot but you're alive and can go someplace else to protest.

Oh, and thanks for the "PIG" name. Pride, Integrity, and Guts!

Communist rabble in the streets trying to take over the US. They need to be deported to China or Russia.

20yrVet @ 11/9/2011 9:46 AM

ANY 'peace officer' who tried to justify this in ANY respect has violated the oath they took before being commissioned and putting on the badge. The Constitutional Rights don't expire when we are 'tired' of putting up with someone, or if the "LTL" only "hurts a little bit", or if we think they are "Communist rabble". Good Lord, what was the legal justification for this? A guy with a camera?...

Rainer @ 11/9/2011 12:00 PM

Well..... who should be shipped over to China or Russia?? That´s the question....and, Rick, who is NOT a communist???
20yrVet is absolutly right.
Rick, OPD an friends, don´t forget, some of these people could be your neighbours...;)
These people out there have the Right to ask and to get an answer...not the kind of you would like to realy know the meaning of DEMOCRACY???? I´m not sure!

Citizen @ 11/9/2011 5:00 PM

The police officer who did this is a spineless man. If a usmc soldier did this to an Iraqi protestor he would be I'm existed court Martialed . My best friend has been shot, blown up and mentally scarred for 6 years fighting for this country in Iraq and afghanistan and you cowards go against everything our country stands for. The cops who have attacked PROTESTORS like sfpd Scott bergstresser who attacked Scott Olsen are in the public domain. You people protect and serve those who have destroyed our coutry and America will not stand by and watch you brutalize our 1st amendment. FYI: there are various orgs organizing law suits against all officers identified in this type of behavior. Prepare to face up to your crimes

Truth @ 11/9/2011 5:21 PM

It's pretty awesome that cops can just shoot people without warrant, even if it is not lethal. Hey OPD I assume you think R doesn't have a job because he or she supports the occupation. Well you should really educate yourself a little bit. A huge chunk of the people who support this movement have full time jobs and/or multiple jobs and do work very hard. I personally march with the occupiers as often as possible. I have a full time job and two children (which can be seen as an additional full time job). I support the occupation so my children can have a good future. ANYONE who isn't extremely wealthy and doesn't support the occupation clearly just hasn't taken the time to educate themselves. Rick, if you actually took the time to understand what the occupation is about you would know they are not communist, we want TRUE DEMOCRACY! Look up the definition and educate yourself. That is truth.

pissed off @ 11/9/2011 8:27 PM

you cops who are making fun of this protestor need to step back and take a look at yourselves in the mirror. Did you join the law enforcement community to protect and serve the public or to inflate your ego and get a rush out of beating the rights out of fellow Americans. I hope you know that Occupy Atlanta protestors saved a police officers home from foreclosure yesterday as the banks came to throw the LEO and his family out. It is disgusting how some LEOS are acting these days

FormerPD @ 11/10/2011 10:46 AM

As a former police officer, I'm the first to say there needs to be order in these protests. However, I'm also the first to say that shooting a protester with an LTL round for no apparent reason is without excuse. The guy was saying nothing, doing nothing other than videotaping, and was not threatening the officers in any way.

I spend a lot of time online defending the police in comments where people misunderstand the job. But it's stuff like this that tarnishes the good image of police that many of us, former and current cops, work hard to maintain.

As for the Occupy protests, cops need to realize the protesters' efforts -- the legal and peaceful ones -- represent us. Cops aren't highly paid, for the most part; there's not a wealth of riches at the end of the line. As was pointed out, the Occupy people helped that LEO who was facing foreclosure. Simply put, cops are not part of the 1%.

Lastly, for those of you on here who don't know better, some of the comments from people who claim to be or act like they're cops are probably not really from cops -- a lot of wannabes and other types troll this website.

Pigs they are not. Police State they are not. Fascist they are not. They are OUR civil servant and they do the will of the people. They are also union members (league, PBA, union, association) who collectively bargain for a fair wage and we give it to them so that they can protect and serve us.

They are not Blackwater or Halliburton. They are OUR law enforcement officers who answer to We the People. They are also scapegoats for the management and local government when they apply what they've learned in the academy, approved of by POST (Peace Officers standards and Training), yet end up on the bottom-rung of a political storm, not even they understand, and that's why they have a union.

LEOs are the 99%. They are like us. They are like the people in the Occupation who are struggling to make ends meet or making sure that their families are protected. They are the 99%. And if they don't care. If they call us socialist (that's what first responders are), but not recognize that they are equipped with the accoutrements we as taxpayer pay, then feel free to quit the union. LEOs are socialist as they work in a socialist organization and my taxes, your taxes OUR taxes pay the City, State and Feds to hire, train and send out to the streets the protectors we pay for.

No they are not evil. They are the 99% and if you disagree. leave your union and let Internal Affairs have their day with you.

Max @ 11/11/2011 10:14 AM

How do so many anti-police comments end up on a pro-police website and onto a video that you have to search the records of said website in order to find??

TimFromLA @ 11/11/2011 11:29 AM

@Max, maybe it's time that the unions work with the community and break stereotypes down. There are the Occupiers

LTL sniper @ 11/17/2011 8:36 AM

how do you know it is not "friendly fire" from the Occupy camp?
